About

TENUTA LE COLONNE, VINEYARDS, PINI AND SEA

Tenuta Le Colonne is located in Donoratico, in the southernmost part of the Bolgheri appellation. This is an area kissed by the sun, overlooking the sea, with rows of pine trees standing sentinel to a unique and evocative landscape. In this paradise, the estate is located in a strategic position, being the winery with the vineyards closest to the sea in the entire denomination, just a few steps from the beach. Tenuta Le Colonne boasts about 60 hectares of vineyards, with international varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Syrah and Merlot, as well as white grapes such as Vermentino, mostly planted beyond the Aurelia road, on extremely sandy soils.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Bolgheri is a strong, vigorous territory. A place where international varietals  express themselves with great impetus. We start from vineyard management that is the result of what we have learned over the years, in Bolgheri as in the other areas where we are present. Here we immediately adopted regenerative agronomic management practices, preserving the soil and working for the correct balance of the vineyards: the correct management of the soil and the vineyard led us without any difficulty, in an almost natural way, to certify the entire estate as organic. What we then do in the cellar is to accompany the wine in its development, trying to enhance its elegance and freshness. Going against the trend, we only use large 40 hl untoasted French oak barrels and in the hottest years we help ourselves in the vinification with a very small percentage of stalks.
